New CMS Report on the implications of climate change for Danish defence policy

Climate change is accelerating and increasingly shaping the conditions for defence and security policy. The UN assesses that states’ current climate policies are not aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement and will lead to a temperature increase of 2.5-2.8°C by 2100. This will result in significantly higher sea levels and more frequent extreme weather events. The trajectory also raises the risk of climate tipping points, which would further exacerbate climate change and its consequences.

The new CMS Report “Klimaforandringernes betydning for forsvarspolitikken – Scenarier, cases og strategier for Danmark”, examines how climate change will affect the Danish Armed Forces' establishments and analyses the need for climate adaptation in Danish defence policy, both locally, nationally and through international cooperation.
