CMS publishes new Security Policy Survey 2024
Is the world more or less safe today than five years ago? What are the biggest threats to Denmark? Should the West increase its military deterrence against Russia? What does NATO enlargement with Finland and Sweden mean for Denmark? Should the EU seek strategic autonomy from the US? What are the biggest challenges in the implementation of the Defence Agreement 2024-2033?
We ask these and a number of other questions in CMS' annual Security Policy Survey. This year's edition is based on a survey of over 200 experts in Danish foreign, security and defence policy, including politicians, civil servants, officers, journalists, researchers, opinion makers and others. We asked them to assess the significance of key events and developments of the day. The survey was conducted from 18 December 2023 to 15 January 2024.
The results of this year's survey continue several trends we saw last year and essentially confirm that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was a watershed moment for Western, European and Danish foreign, security and defence policy.
