Russia has always sought to control the seas, but is under no illusion it can fight U.S. directly – or a coalition of America’s core allies. Instead the Baltic Sea Region may be confronted with a long-term campaign of politically motivated social disruption. At Center for International Maritime Security (CIMSEC), senior researcher at Centre for Military Studies (CMS) Gary Schaub, in cooperation with Martin N. Murphy, tells about a possible Russian strategy towards the Baltic Sea Region and the role the Russian maritime power may play in such a conflict.
