Senior Researcher Katja Lindskov Jacobsen contributes to new NATO report

A new NATO report outlines the challenges from the alliance’s southern neighbourhood, especially North Africa and the Middle East, but also the Sahel and beyond, and it formulates recommendations that can help point the way forward for the military alliance’s approach to the region.

The report is a part of a reflection process initiated at the 2023 Vilnius NATO Summit with the purpose of revisiting NATO’s southern engagements. The background is among other things Russia’s and China’s significantly increased presence in countries south of NATO territory. The reflection process is supported by a group of independent experts appointed by Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, among them CMS Senior Researcher Katja Lindskov Jacobsen.

The result of the expert group’s work is now published in the new NATO report.
