New CMS Report about U.S. Minilateralism

The strategic competition between the United States and China is the most important driving force shaping the international order. As a result, U.S. foreign and security policy is increasingly focused on China and the Indo-Pacific region.

In this reorientation, minilateralism has become an increasingly prominent element of the United States' foreign policy approach. Minilateralism refers to focused forms of cooperation among smaller groups of states that share a common set of interests, and in which the various participants can contribute specific capabilities to advance a particular objective.

The new CMS Report, “Den nye minilateralisme: USA’s hybride balancering af Kina” examines the causes and implications of this new American minilateralism. The report is authored by postdoctoral researcher Henrik Lauritsen.
