New CMS Background Paper on the future of NATO

NATO is facing a broad spectrum of challenges. These cover everything from Russia's intensifying confrontational behaviour to China's growing global dominance, climate change, internal discord regarding direction and values, as well as rapid technology development.

In 2022, NATO will present a new strategic concept that will define NATO's purpose, core tasks, strategies, and objectives for the upcoming decade. In the background paper "NATO's future - Reference points for a new strategic concept", Lise Wiederholdt Christensen, defence analyst at the Centre for Military Studies, examines the strategic and political challenges that NATO faces towards 2030. Furthermore, she discusses Danish challenges and possibilities within the defence alliance.
