Katja Lindskov Jacobsen appointed as permanent director of CMS.
After seven months as Acting Director of the Centre for Military Studies (CMS) at the Department of Political Science, Senior Researcher Katja Lindskov Jacobsen assumed the permanent position of Director on September 1, 2025.
Katja has been employed as a Senior Researcher at CMS since May 1, 2016, and since October 2023, she has also been affiliated with the Department of Political Science as an Associate Professor under the University of Copenhagen's promotion program. She holds a PhD in International Politics from Lancaster University and a Master's in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She has many years of experience in research, publications, research-based public sector consultancy, and dissemination, including work on Danish defence and security policy with a particular focus on maritime security, security technology, and interventions in Africa.
Her research has been referenced in various high-level forums, including UN Security Council debates on maritime security and reports by the UN Special Rapporteur on the protection of human rights while countering terrorism. In 2024, she was appointed by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to an independent group of experts tasked with mapping the situation in the alliance's southern neighbourhood as part of NATO's reflection process. The result of the expert group's work has been published in a report.
