James Appathurai (NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges), Susanne Baumann (Federal Government Commissioner for Disarmament and Arms Control), Bruno Tertrais (Deputy Director of the Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique).
"One of the main obligations of the Centre for Military Studies is to serve as a platform for public debate about strategic affairs. For this reason, I am genuinely excited to welcome all of you, to introduce the theme, and then the program for the seminar. Today’s theme is nuclear arms control – our seminar is the public face of the 17th NATO Conference on arms control, hosted in 2021 by Denmark. It is my hope that with this seminar, we are witnessing an increase in the public interest and interest among our students in a topic that is decisively important in itself, but which also very much merits attention and scrutiny from the public".
