Henrik Ø. Breitenbauch participates in IISS Workshop
Senior Researcher at the Centre for Military Studies, Henrik Ø. Breitenbauch , has been invited to participate in the IISS Workshop ‘Smart Defence and Specialisation – Assured Access to Capabilities’ in Brussels on November 27, 9.30-17.00. The workshop is organised in collaboration with the Public Diplomacy Division of NATO, and participation is by invitation only.
The main topic for discussion will be, how to face the most challenging element of the NATO Smart Defence agenda: Specialisation. Specialisation is the most challenging element because of its high impact on national autonomy. Thus, if nations are to focus on the provision of certain capabilities, while giving up the investment in other capabilities, their mutual military dependency will rise considerably, and it will therefore be necessary to assure the nations’ access to capabilities. This could be arranged in several ways.
