CMS Conference: "China’s military - present and future"
China is increasingly becoming a global superpower in terms of its rising economic, political, and military power. This new reality changes the global balance of power and will be a defining feature of global politics in the 21st century. That entails that it is of key importance to understand the country’s political and military ambitions.
Therefore, this topical conference will discuss the development of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), analyze its aims towards becoming a world class military power by 2049, and examine the PLA’s international strategic relations.
Among the speakers will be the internationally renowned Prof. Taylor Fravel and Prof. You Ji, who will share their insights on PLA, their external strategies, and the perspectives for military-civil relations among other issues. They will be accompanied by a lecture by Prof. Mikkel Vedby Rasmussen, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and discussions with Prof. Camilla N. Sørensen, Brigadier General Ole Kværnø and Carsten Rasmussen, former Brigadier General and defense attaché in Beijing.
